Research and Concept Development

Mind Over Matter: in response to the current climate of political, social, and environmental uncertainty, we researched how these factors influence consumer behavior, predicting that women will prioritize wellness and sustainability in their fashion choices.

Wearing the world: Where fashion goes beyond aesthetics to embrace holistic living. This theme is deeply connected to the Zeitgeist of today, with consumers increasingly seeking clothing that aligns with both personal health and environmental well-being. This research helped us understand the need for fashion that supports both the body and the earth, ensuring our forecast resonates with the broader cultural shifts.

Design and Mood Board Creation

Visual Story: Including a curated a mood board that reflects the concept of holistic living, this mood board includes fashion images and natural textures that speak to the comfort, versatility, and sustainability of the forecasted designs. The curated visuals embody the balance between elevated casual styles and comfort, with an emphasis on natural fabrics and earthy tones. This process highlighted how fashion can express not just style, but a lifestyle rooted in health and environmental consciousness.

Target Market Analysis and Forecast

Target Market: Women who prioritize holistic living and seek fashion that supports both their health and the planet. Through exploring the past, present, and future of this demographic, we considered how wellness and environmental concerns have shaped their fashion choices.

Fall/Winter 2025: For FW25, we predicted that this market will demand more transitional pieces that can seamlessly move from work to play to relaxation, while still reflecting an elevated casual style. This analysis deepened my understanding of how consumers are evolving and how my forecast should adapt to meet those needs.

Fabric, Print, Pattern, and Detail Forecast

Fabrics, Patterns, Prints, and Details: We chose these with the values of comfort, sustainability, and versatility in mind.

Fabrics: Seacell™, BANANATEX®, and 100% Cotton Laser Wiskered Denim were just a few of the fabrics we chose which prioritize both the health of the consumer and the environment.

Prints and Patterns: These prints and patterns feature earthy tones and nature-inspired motifs, connecting the designs to the overarching theme of wearing the world. This process taught us the importance of selecting materials that not only look good but also embody the ethos of sustainability and wellness.

Street Style and Runway Look Research

Street Style and Runway Looks: Utilizing looks from the past year that aligned with our Mind Over Matter theme, we focused on looks that reflect the growing demand for comfort, versatility, and sustainability.

Key Items: Key items, embroidered tights and chunky scarves were included to align with the consumer’s busy lifestyle. They reflect the growing desire for clothing that can transition between various settings without sacrificing style or comfort. This process highlighted how important it is to forecast not just trends, but the foundational pieces that make up the backbone of a wardrobe.
